Help Young People in the Amazon Reach Education and Opportunity

In the Kichwa community of Sani Isla in the Ecuadorian Amazon, young people are working together to build a stronger future for themselves and their community. Their youth center provides a place to learn, gather, develop new skills, and create opportunities while remaining deeply connected to their culture and rainforest home.

But something as simple as getting to school, reaching the youth center, or accessing technology can be a major challenge in a community where rivers are the roads.

A Motorized Canoe for Safe, Reliable Transportation

For families living along the Napo River, a canoe is not a recreational item—it is essential transportation. The youth group needs a 12-meter fiberglass motorized canoe to help children and young people travel safely to school, attend youth center activities, participate in educational programs, and connect with neighboring communities.

The canoe will serve more than 40 children, youth, and community members and provide reliable transportation for activities that would otherwise be difficult or impossible to reach.

Tablets to Bring Educational Resources to the Youth Center

The youth center also needs computer tablets to give young people greater access to educational resources and digital learning. In a remote Amazonian community, access to computers and technology cannot be taken for granted.

Shared tablets at the youth center will help students with schoolwork, research, educational programs, and the development of digital skills that are increasingly important for their futures. They will also allow young people to learn and communicate beyond the geographic isolation of their community while continuing to live, learn, and lead from within Sani Isla.

Together, the canoe and tablets address two very practical barriers: access and opportunity.

By helping equip the Sani Isla youth center with reliable river transportation and educational technology, donors can provide tangible tools that young people can use every day—supporting education, connection, leadership, and opportunity for years to come.
