I first got into climate work in my South Side Chicago neighborhood, when young people all across Illinois came together to demand clean energy jobs. That movement won real progress, proof that when we organize, we can change what’s possible. But now, many of those hard-fought laws are under attack. At the very moment we need stronger protections for the planet, they’re being stripped away. In just the past year, the U.S. was hit with 27 separate climate disasters, each costing over $1 billion and together taking hundreds of lives. 2024 was also the hottest year on record worldwide, fueling wildfires that burned nearly 9 million acres and pushing more than half the country into drought. And yet, many of the laws we fought so hard to win are now under attack. That’s why I’m asking you to give today.
