By working together with growers and partners, we champion the integration of natural habitats into agricultural landscapes, ensuring that farming and conservation go hand in hand. We have three key strategic initiatives to drive meaningful change:
1) Farmland Flyways - Engaging farmers in creating vital habitat for beneficial birds by installing nest boxes and perches. Our goal is to establish 1 million structures across 10% of U.S. farms, enhancing natural pest control and ecosystem health.
2) Farmland Wildways - Encouraging farms to plant hedgerows and windbreaks to create wildlife corridors. We aim for 25% of farms to establish at least one mile of these living borders, contributing to a nationwide network of 500,000 miles of habitat (this is the distance to the moon and back).
3) Farmland Waterways - Restoring riverfront habitat by inspiring farmers to replant 10% of riparian zones on agricultural lands. This effort will result in 100,000 miles of revitalized waterways that support water quality, pollinators, and wildlife.
