Florida Food Policy Council

About the Florida Food Policy Council

The Florida Food Policy Council (FLFPC) is a statewide nonprofit working to build a more equitable, healthy, and climate-resilient food system for all Floridians.

Established in 2010, FLFPC brings together community leaders, farmers, food-system organizations, researchers, public health professionals, advocates, local governments, and residents to identify challenges and advance solutions across Florida’s food system.

Our work connects food access and affordability, climate resilience, land and community governance, food and farmworker justice, public health, and community-led policy. We believe the people most affected by food-system challenges should have a meaningful role in shaping the policies, investments, and solutions that affect their communities.

FLFPC serves as a connector, convener, policy resource, and capacity-building partner. Through statewide and regional partnerships, we support community engagement, policy education, research and data initiatives, technical assistance, coalition development, and opportunities for communities to turn lived experience into action.

Our work includes strengthening local and regional food-policy networks, supporting community-led food access and resilience initiatives, advancing healthy and affordable food environments, connecting food systems with climate and environmental justice, and helping communities build the knowledge and partnerships needed to influence policy.

Why Your Support Matters

Florida communities are facing interconnected challenges—from rising food costs and limited access to healthy food to climate disasters, disappearing agricultural land, health disparities, and increasing pressure on farmers and historically underserved communities.

Your support helps FLFPC bring communities, organizations, researchers, and decision-makers to the same table and move from conversation to action.

Donations help us:

  • Convene communities and food-system leaders across Florida
  • Provide policy education, technical assistance, and capacity building
  • Support community-led food access and resilience initiatives
  • Expand research, mapping, and community food assessments
  • Strengthen local and regional food-policy networks
  • Advance policies that support farmers, families, workers, and communities
  • Elevate community voices in decisions affecting Florida’s food future

Together, we can build a Florida food system where every community has the opportunity, resources, and voice to thrive.
