FoodCycle

FoodCycle's mission is to feed people, not landfills, by nourishing food-insecure communities through the rescue and redistribution of surplus food, reducing hunger, improving health, and protecting the planet from the impacts of food waste and climate change. We envision a world where no food is wasted and no person goes hungry - where surplus fuels healthier lives, supports thriving communities, and protects our planet by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

FoodCycle rescues more than 9 million pounds of food each year, keeping it out of landfills and redirecting it to communities in need. By preventing this waste, we avoid harmful CO₂ emissions and conserve the vast amounts of water used to produce food. We integrate green technology-including electric vehicles and solar-powered refrigeration-to ensure our work is sustainable from start to finish. With hundreds of nonprofit partners, we are building a better food system that treats surplus food not as waste but as a vital resource. Together, we're reducing hunger, protecting the planet, and creating lasting change.

Testimonials

"When I became a single mom, I was truly scared. I was at a point where I had no idea where our next meal was coming from. FoodcycleLA offered an opportunity to help others like me and after a few weeks I realized it could help us, too. I am forever grateful for the gift that was food to nourish my child and myself and for the gift that offered me the opportunity to help others that were in the same position."
