Neighbors for Clean Air

Since 2010, Neighbors for Clean Air (NCA) has worked to build a healthier Oregon by reducing air pollution so every Oregonian can breathe clean air every day, everywhere. We see clean air as both a public health imperative and a matter of environmental justice. Toxic air pollution isn't distributed evenly: BIPOC communities and lower income neighborhoods carry a disproportionate share of the burden. We work to benefit these vulnerable populations most affected by air pollution in order to close these disparities.

NCA combines data-driven advocacy with community-led campaigns in our commitment to strengthen regulatory standards for air pollution and bridge the gap between legislature, industry, and community to ensure clean air for all Oregonians. We leverage research in science and policy to engage local communities in advocacy for air quality issues.

NCA acts to increase regulations and programs for the adoption of cleaner energy technologies and ensure publicly funded projects adhere to clean diesel standards. We support statewide air quality monitoring programs based on scientific health risk assessments to close regulatory gaps in statewide air pollution regulation. Additionally, NCA has pioneered contracts between companies and the neighborhoods they inhabit to mitigate the health and environmental impacts of industry.
