Well Done Foundation

OUR STORY

In 2020, the Well Done Foundation plugged its first orphan oil and gas well in Toole County, Montana. The skeptics were loud: "A drop in the bucket." 3.5 million abandoned wells in America, and you plugged one? Good luck.

They were right about the scope. They were wrong about everything else.

Six years and 127 wells later, WDF has eliminated more than 5 million metric tons of CO₂e emissions, restored land in 15 states, and proven that action beats cynicism. Every well we plug stops methane from leaking into the atmosphere, protects groundwater, and gives landowners their property back.

We locate the wells. We measure the emissions. We plug them. We restore the land. Then we move to the next one.

There are still 3.5 million orphan wells out there. Each one is a ticking environmental and public health hazard, leaking methane (a greenhouse gas 80 times more potent than CO₂ in its first 20 years), contaminating water, and poisoning communities.

We're not done. Not even close.
