Grand Canyon Youth

About this Organization

Since its founding in 1998, Grand Canyon Youth has served over 13,500 youth, aged 10-19. We envision a diverse and equitable world where all youth are empowered to live with purpose while discovering and caring for self, community, and the natural world.

GCY takes our role in shaping the next generation of land stewards seriously. Our alumni have pursued careers as scientists, teachers, land managers, and professional outdoor guides; they are inspired to study, support, and share their love of wild places.

The majority of the youth we serve are from Arizona, but our summer expeditions are open to youth nationwide. To reach and responsibly serve youth from all different backgrounds, we work to build new relationships and maintain long-term connections with schools, youth-focused organizations, and youth community leaders. We also team up with Tribal collaborators to provide multiple all-Indigenous youth expeditions each year.

GCY expedition costs are offset by grants and donations, and additional financial aid is available to all youth applicants.
