Climate education is a powerful but overlooked climate solution, with a peer-reviewed study finding that education can reduce a student's CO2 emissions by 2.86 tons annually, surpassing projected reductions by EVs or offshore wind.
SubjectToClimate (StC) is a nonprofit that empowers K-12 educators to easily and effectively teach about climate change, justice, and action. We have a 1.6 million budget, of which over 90% is from private donations. Our free platform provides lesson plans, educational resources, and professional development to make climate education accessible and actionable for teachers across all subjects and grade levels K-12. In doing so, we help students connect classroom learning to real-world climate solutions, enabling them to become future stewards of our planet.
Since launching in 2021, we've reached over 900,000 users, curated 2,800+ vetted educational resources, and launched localized Climate Education Hubs in 9 states: CA, CT, IL, ME, MI, NJ, NY, OR, and WI.
Your donation sustains our platform and empowers teachers to foster the next generation of changemakers.
"This is by far the most thorough, well designed, easily navigable, high quality resource available in the US right now."
"Some of the best online [professional development for teachers] I have seen in my 30 years of public school teaching."
"I think sometimes we can feel pretty isolated in our classroom or in our school, and anytime we can make connections with other educators… that's really important to help build bridges across districts and… to support one another."
"In today's America, teaching children about climate change and the need to defend and preserve our planet is more important than ever."
