I've contributed to environmental and climate work in a lot of different ways over the years, but I keep coming back to what can be done at the local level. Our quality of life like how easily we can bike or take public transit, the tree canopy that cools our neighborhoods, and how prepared we are for climate impacts already hitting other communities comes down largely to decisions made by local government. So does a meaningful share of our emissions.
Most city councilors making those decisions aren't career politicians. They are people in the community holding other jobs, often serving in public office for the first time. Run On Climate helps people like that get elected, then figures out with them how to actually govern on climate, through direct policy support and connections to other local officials doing the same work.
That's why I serve as Board Chair of Run On Climate. The federal government isn't going to solve the climate crisis for us, and with climate funding being rolled back nationally, local action matters more than ever. Last year alone, ROC helped pass 65 climate policies across 35 cities and counties.
A gift here funds that work directly. Any amount helps and I'm grateful for your support.
