The Fight for Local Climate Action

I've been working on climate action in different capacities over the past 12 years. I want our future generations to be able to breath clean air. I want them to have access to the healing and restorative qualities that being in nature provides, like my wife, my dog and I have had the privilege to experience.
It's been heartbreaking, terrifying, but mostly frustrating for me to witness the Trump Administration actively working against climate action; gutting policies, programs and funding that took so much collective effort to establish in the first place.
It's been even more frustrating to see leaders in my home state of New York begin to roll back their commitments to climate action. This is why it's more clear than ever that we need to address climate action at the local level, because this is an arena where I have seen first-hand significant returns on investment.
As the Elections Director for Run On Climate, my team has helped climate champions win their elections for local office. (note: this fundraiser is for the sibling organization Run On Climate Education Fund) And my co-workers and their teams have helped elected officials pass, craft and implement policies that reduce emissions in their communities:
Cities we work in have reduced emissions ~10 Million tons of CO2 from 2022-2025. Last year we passed 65 climate policies across 35 cities and counties. Since founding we have helped pass and implement over 200 climate policies. And this is all being done with teams of young people, helping them develop their organizing, technical, and leadership skills to continue shaping the future we need.
This is what gives me hope. The Run On Climate Education Fund relies primarily on individual donors to fuel our work. With your support we can continue to pass ambitious climate policies in cities across the U.S. in 2026 and beyond. Please consider making a donation through EarthGives to help us maximize our fundraising potential and thus our impact in communities across the country. Thank you!
