We are a place-based, resident-run organization that's helped Evanston set & achieve its ambitious climate action goals since 2008. Through our 6 programs, we envision Evanston as a model for 21st-century community living. With renewable energy, circular waste streams, clean & accessible transportation, healthy local food, ecological abundance, & environmental equity for all, where our community maximizes its positive impact on planetary health. To achieve this, our goals include: Supporting the implementation of Evanston's Climate Action and Resilience Plan. Promoting policies & programs that reduce greenhouse gas emissions & build climate resilience. Partnering with local schools, nonprofits, businesses, & government to foster systemic change. Ensuring that all climate solutions are inclusive, with a strong emphasis on environmental justice. Mobilizing residents to take action across 6 programs: Building Energy - promoting energy efficiency. Go Evanston - advancing accessible transportation options. Food - supporting local food systems & reducing food waste. Natural Habitat - restoring biodiversity. Waste - reuse & recycling. Environmental Justice- equity in climate solutions.
