Gullah Geechee Chamber Foundation

Founded in 2020 and based in Georgetown, SC, the Gullah Geechee Chamber Foundation champions environmental and economic development initiatives for the Gullah Geechee Chamber of Commerce. Serving the coastal regions of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, the Foundation partners with the Gullah Geechee community-descendants of enslaved West Africans brought to the U.S. through the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. With a strong focus on environmental stewardship and climate resilience, its mission is to raise funds that advance global awareness, profitability, and sustainability for African American businesses and organizations while protecting and preserving the natural resources

The Gullah Geechee Chamber Foundation is rooted in protecting our environment and building resilience for our people. Through the annual Gullah Geechee Environmental & Energy Conference, held in the heart of the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor, we bring our community together to share knowledge and solutions across cultural, environmental, and energy issues, while lifting up the environmental justice work of our own people. In partnership with 7 Dimensions Outreach and Solar United National (SUN), our **Solar and EV Workforce Program** we've trained community members and delivered South Carolina's first "solar-powered electric vehicle charging station". With CREATE, we join SC Aquarium, Gullah Preservation Society, and the Gullah/Geechee Nation to turn "marine debris into art", organize watershed cleanups, and celebrate our Gullah Geechee artists. Other efforts, like **Our Marsh Counts** and **Climate Smart**, focus on cleaner waterways, healthier seafood, and greenhouse emissions reduction through crop rotation and cover crop education for farmers in marginalized communities. Through **HARVEST**, we study historic rice fields maintenance to reduce water rising impact.
