Capen Hill Nature Sanctuary

About this Organization

Capen Hill Nature Sanctuary, founded in 1977 in Charlton, MA, is a non-profit dedicated to Preservation and Environmental Education. We provide free year-round access to 86 acres of trails and green space, along with a hands-on Visitor Center that houses over 40 non-releasable animals, mineral collection, and a nature library. These animals are central to our educational programs, helping us connect people of all ages to the importance of wildlife conservation. Each year, we serve over 400+ youth through summer camps, school field trips, and family-friendly events. We also offer job training opportunities for local Center of Hope participants with disabilities and host community events that promote outdoor engagement, sustainability, and the arts. Run by a small but dedicated staff, Capen Hill is a sanctuary not just for animals, but for people-especially children and teens of all backgrounds, identities, and abilities-seeking a safe, inclusive place to learn and grow. With your support, we can continue inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards through personal, meaningful connections with nature.
