Education - Through our programs, we're helping improve STEM academic skills and educating the next generation of environmental stewards, voters and government leaders. Our River Explorer (4-12 grade), Mussels in the Classroom (K-12 grade) and Student Conservation Leadership Course (9-12 grade reach more than 10,000 students each year with 40,000+ hours of instruction.
Restoration - ORF works with local governments, parks, and private landowners on habitat restoration projects including invasive species removal, tree plantings, and dam removals to increase biodiversity, create better wildlife habitats, improve water quality and allow ecosystems to thrive and become more resilient to a changing climate.
Advocacy - Ohio River Foundation is a strong voice for protecting and restoring the Ohio River and all waters in its watershed. We work at local, state, and federal levels for effective laws and regulations that will reduce pollution, restore vital natural systems like forests and wetlands, and encourage smart growth in our communities. We submit comments to governing bodies regarding wetlands mitigation, stormwater issues, construction and development projects and other topics.
