Nonprofit FAQs

This giving day was put together for the purpose of catalyzing environmental philanthropy and galvanizing individuals to engage with the work of environmental, climate and climate justice 501c3s. You teach, you inspire, you gather. You role in tackling the most consequential issue of our time needs to be amplified. When only 2% of all giving goes to climate-focused nonprofit work, and just .5% to climate justice efforts, it's clear that this is the place where EVERY individual can get involved in the work of shaping a future where all can thrive.  Whether you plant trees in your local community to combat an urban heat island effect, or conduct science out on the ocean, it all has ripple impacts locally and globally.

This giving day and the 25 days of early giving are not just about generating more resources for your work. It is serves to shape a collective of organizations that have greater power together to invite those sitting on the sidelines to learn, give and engage - both as volunteers and as earth citizens. The simple act of signing up your nonprofit is just part of the journey toward creating hundreds, possibly thousands, even perhaps one day millions of change-making acts.

Welcome!

  • Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a massive movement to advance generosity.

We couldn't agree more. And so we are thrilled to welcome Giving Tuesday as a supporter of our efforts here at Earth Gives Day. From Earth Gives Day on Tuesday, October 1, to Giving Tuesday on Tuesday, December 3rd, and the final day of the year on Tuesday, December 31st, we have a 3-peat on our minds for all donors.

Now that's some major carbon capturing investment, isn't it. We went to the intertube to make sure: Peat soils contain more than 600 gigatonnes of carbon which represents up to 44% of all soil carbon, and exceeds the carbon stored in all other vegetation types including the world's forests.

Well, for peat's sake, was is Earth Gives Day?

If you got this far, you know. Let's just say it in a different way. The climate crisis is consequential to every living thing on the planet. Because investment in climate nonprofit work is so low it's hard to fathom, it deserves a special initaitive to bring the world's attention to it.

So we are here to provide a platform for a collective of 501c3s in the US (for now) in hopes of making this the "one stop" go to platform for people to find you, your work, invest, volunteer, ask questions, find resources and build a community of earth givers.

Community matters in this endeavor. We are too disconnected from one another and from nature. We can find the magic in life with and through one another and our one special planet.

We invite you to use your dollars, your goods, stock, time, influence, voice, talent and so much more to make this day move far beyond a moment. We have ideas that we believe every individual can utilize to become a champion for the planet. So get in touch with us at connect@earthgives.org and let's get busy.
